"All my fabrics are created by hand...without digital printing and without computers. From the drawing to the making...it's all about skill and craft"
Joanna Vanderpuije is a London based designer of hand made screen-printed textiles and womenswear.
The starting point for all textiles evolves from her hand drawings, paintings, collage and mixed media. Specialised in screen-printing; meticulous attention to detail is taken from the initial artworks to final fabrics. This unique and rare process means that fabrics have life, energy and are one of a kind.
Her work fuses graphic hand drawn screen prints with strong cuts/tailoring and unexpected embellishments.
Trained at Central Saint Martins (Foundation to MA) she gained experience working in the studios for the likes of Alexander McQueen, Jonathan Saunders, Eley Kishimoto.
Upon finishing her MA she won both the Diane Von Furstenberg Print and Womenswear design awards and was personally invited by Diane to work as a Print Designer in New York. Following this she then presented her own debut collection at LFW. It was not long before she was approached by Marimekko (Finland) to work as a Headline Womens and Print Designer on collaboration capsule collections with the Scandinavian brand.
Now residing in London and having consulted and freelanced many years for other international luxury brands, she is now focusing her skills solely upon her name label.
